Primroses.....
After posting the vibrant, almost brassy, yellow of yesterday’s daffodils, today we have the much more subtle yellow of the primroses. Primroses like to hang out in woodlands in the UK. They flower before the trees come into leaf, attract the insects and set seed. Then they fade away. If you know where to look you can still find their leaves later but they eventually disappear as the taller summer plants take over.
It was a sunny day again today so I went for a little walk after work to chill out a bit. Primroses like to hang out in groups, like in the extra picture. If they are left they will spread over the years by setting seed. They used to be a common plant in the UK, but intensive farming has restricted their range. They do well in the suburbs of the large towns and cities where we appreciate them and look after their habitats. They are one of our prettiest spring flowers.
