Starling?

We've spotted this chap in the garden, at the bird table, for the last few days and have been wondering what it was. It is obviously a starling, but what about the ginger colouring on its face? The puzzle was solved today - it is pollen, he has been feeding on the New Zealand flax plants in the village! So much for me discovering a new species!
