U-Bahn München: 72/100 Olympia-Einkaufszentrum U3

Munich underground: 72/100 Olympia-Einkaufszentrum U3

The lower level of Olympia-Einkaufszentrum underground station is served by the orange U3 line and was opened in October 2007, three years after the upper level U1 platforms. Until 2010, when western stops at Moosach and Moosacher St.-Martins-Platz were opened, it was the north-western terminus of the U3 line. OEZ station, together with its eastern neighbour Oberwiesenfeld, was part of the first northern extension of the U3 Olympia line since its opening in 1972.

Similar to the U1 platforms, the walls are covered with reflective steel material. However, pyramidal structures were chosen here, to distribute the light more evenly. The ceiling lights are attached to large yellow, ellipsoid cylinders, which together with the walls are the most remarkable features of the station. The ceiling itself is painted in bold blue.

On a different note, have you seen the Champions League match between Bayern und Juventus?! Quite the rollercoaster ride, and I sure am glad that my team came out on top.

On yet another note, happy St. Patrick's Day to those who observe/celebrate it!

"We need to honour ancient Irish traditions, like serving an irresponsible amount of booze to people, who are genetically predisposed to having alcohol problems. You see, St. Patrick started that tradition, and that's why we celebrate him today." - (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, S11xE8)
