Abstract Thursday - Mystery Shot

I hope this abstract shot may give fellow blippers some fun guessing what it is.

It's a macro shot, virtually straight out-of-camera, with only some enhancement of the contrast and a bit of sharpening and cropping.

I'll tell you something it isn't - it's not a photomicrograph of living tissue, even if it looks a bit like one! And it's not a monochrome. It looks best seen large against a black background.
