Lamp-post and tree

The village had a single lamp-post which stood very close to - almost embraced by - the old oak. It didn't appear on any plans and the council had no record of how it was connected to any electrical supply. When the rest of the village was affected by a power cut, the light still shone, illuminating the oak tree.
