Golden...........

...........Sands

These are the sands of Awaroa – a pristine beach in the Abel Tasman National Park, Nelson, NZ.

We’ve been away for the day, joining the Nelson Historical Society field trip, departing from Kaiteriteri this morning and travelling on Wilson’s boat to Awaroa to visit Meadowbank Homestead and to hear the Hadfield family history.

Europeans settled in this area from 1855 and included the Hadfield family whose descendants, the Wilsons now provide various transport by boat in the national park and accommodation for guided walks and sea kayaking at the homestead.

On our return trip to Kaiteriteri there was excitement on board as a pod of dolphins could be seen performing close to our boat. It was a lovely end to a perfect day.

Many thanks for the comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s rusty Janie Seddon.  I have now added a tag to this photo and to a previous blip of Janie to keep all my photos of this local icon together.

I apologise for the limited comments last night and today. Normal service will be in full swing tomorrow, meantime I will make a start this evening.
