Empty streets tonight. Istanbul reels and reacts to the latest assault on humanity, this time in my beloved Istanbul, in Istiklal Caddesi, that leaves us in a shroud of tears and asking why?

Nevertheless, today's terror didn't stop seven of us from returning to Rumeli Hisari this evening to have dinner in our new favourite restaurant to celebrate my upcoming birthday this week, in style.

19.30 and no traffic on a stretch of road that usually looks like this.

Meanwhile, in other news: well done Wales this afternoon, and England tonight. Just as it should be results in this last round of Six Nations.   I'll watch Ireland and Scotland tomorrow on catch up TV.
