Three out ....two in!!
A mundane Monday morning, refuse collection day. We have a collection of council supplied bins, the 3 shown in the picture and 2 more. The other 2 are for recyclables (the green bin) and garden waste (we pay extra for this one). We also have another box for glass, metals, batteries etc. which we have to take to the tip ourselves, as at present the council doesn't collect those things.
When this fiasco started several years ago we were give the large brown lidded bin on the right for our food waste, this is collected weekly. Well I ask you, which household manages to waste this quantity of food a week? I don't even buy this amount in a week; maybe food for a month would fill it, but I somehow doubt it!! Also I buy food for us to eat, not chuck it away!!
Well someone has come to their senses and the council have provided everyone with a "baby" brown bin and will be collecting the big brown one today, to be disposed of!!
They have also delivered new instruction sheets which tell us what can go in what bin!! The goal posts have moved, glass will be collected......this sort of plastic can go in....that sort of plastic cannot go in....... I see refuse collection related dementia creeping closer!!!!
This is all in preparation to charge us for not recycling correctly in the future (so it has been rumoured)!!
Fortunately we store the bins in the garage, so that when I'm standing reading my new instructions I will not be getting wet!!!!!!
Hear endeth the moan for the day!!! :0)
PS I was going to refer to the refuse collection men as "the scaffies", but on looking it up, find the term relates to the street cleaners with the carts that used to be seen in towns and cities, not the bin men with vehicles.
