Tandem - Derelict Sunday

Although there is still a winter chill in the air, thanks to last week's warm spell the snow is gone where there is sun, and this poor neglected tandem bike has been revealed. We discovered it when we took the dogs for a nice long walk this afternoon.

My grandparents used to ride their tandem bike everywhere. In the summers, they would pack a motor home with everything that they needed for a few months, including the tandem bike, and would travel thousands of miles to visit relatives and friends. They would visit our family for a few weeks each summer. Sometimes we would stay at a cabin at the lake while they were in a nearby campground and we would walk or ride our bikes back and forth to see them. Of course, they kept their tandem well tuned and in perfect condition and Grandma never had to ride seatless!
