...for MonoMonday: The Big Picture today.
Our local secondary school was founded as a (boys) grammar school in 1392, and has seen many incarnations since. Girls were eventually admitted, it became one of the early neighbourhood comprehensives in the 1960s ( though it kept its name and some of its traditions ), it morphed into an Advanced Learning Centre ( whatever that is ) under the last upheaval, the old buildings were demolished in 2011 so it now has new premises, and now apparently it will be best for everyone if it becomes an Academy - who knows?
Not sure that anyone really has a grip on the Big Picture - and certainly no-one is taking a deal of notice of the good schools who would prefer to stay as they are... Read Michael Rosen on this topic - he's superb...
