What struck my fancy

Foul Anchor

is a small place near the borders of Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire, Before you is the River Nene flowing towards Sutton Bridge.

The flatness and liability to flooding required the construction of several waterways and pumping stations, ably accomplished by the Dutch led by Sir Cornelius Vermuyden (knighted for his work in 1629).

More information here.

And the sky is a great compensation for the flatness of the fens.
