Fly past

I heard the beating of the wings before I saw these mute swans flying to a field where there about 50 swans. I walked round one of the local reserves with the warden this morning, along with  other volunteers and saw shellducks, shovellers, widgeon, teal and the usual suspects mallards, coots moorhens etc. We hoped to see some natterjack toads but it was too wet and cold. Apparently they hide in rabbit burrows until it is warm enough for breeding. Amazing! It is the most northerly eastern place where you can find these toads and so is a very special site.
This afternoon I spent at hospital where my mother is coming to the end of her long life.
