Oceans meet

A friend and I went to Cape Reinga, the northernmost point of New Zealand where the confluence of the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea surges and boils in the bay. A standing wave extends in an arc out towards the horizon, and waves from East and West meet and cross through each other. I was reminded of the mysterious ocean in Tarkovsky's Solaris, and of Aslan's lily-strewn sea at the end of the world.
