western kingbird

I brought my binocs and birding book along with me on this trip, but this was the first time I used them. 
Apparently the rocky shore and heavy surf are not attractive to many shore birds. I've seen pelicans, gulls, one snowy egret, and one willet.
Inland I've seen crows, red winged blackbirds, and starlings.
So this colorful little fellow really stood out!
