Farewell...

The time has come to say goodbye to my trusty remote control.
It is a Philips Pronto and it operates all of my 'entertainment' system - TV, Sky, PVR, AV Amp, CD, etc. It is very old now - I believe around 15 years - and some bits are beginning to fail (sounds familiar) and the touch screen is not as responsive as it once was.

When it was released it was a ground breaking idea with completely customisable screens - designed on PC software and downloaded into the unit. It was possible to make the remote work in the way you wanted to use it!

A Sky installer once 'poo-pooed' it saying that it was not possible to use a universal remote to control a Sky box - and he had to have the original remote to do something. I did not have the Sky remote and was able to do what he wanted to do with the Pronto. He really didn't understand it - and was not convinced. Presumably he had been indoctrinated at Sky School to dismiss universal remotes!


A replacement has been ordered - due for delivery tomorrow.
