A job half done...

This morning I stripped Alfred's coat for the spring.  Mr K said he looked scruffy and old (Alfred, not Mr K!) so I did him.  The top bit's done, but there was NO way that Alfred was letting me do his tummy and legs (I managed the paws though!).  So when Mr K's around we'll flip him on his back and I'll do his underside while Mr K distracts him with an upside down chew of his bone.  I'll do it with scissors rather than 'pull' it out as 'should' be done with borders (although I will try to hand strip his chest and the back of his legs as that will definitely look better).  He's not going to be competing at Crufts, so I'm going to do what's more comfortable for him - the older he gets, the less he tolerates the stripping method.  I did the top half 'properly' and that's the important part I think - and I doubt anyone's going to stop me in the street and demand to look at his stomach to ensure it's been groomed to the breed requirements!
