Yorkshire Dales
This is perhaps one of the slightly less well known of the Yorkshire Dales, Coverdale, based along the River Cover. It is famous for race horse training and we passed some coming through Middleham.
Not surprised it's not as well known as this road was very steep and narrow (single track) in places. The scenery though is pure 'Dales with those wonderful Yorkshire stone barns and walls. I liked this scene particularly as you could see where the farmer has been spreading slurry or as they would say in Yorkshire ' muck spreeadding!' You can see the field of sheep to the right too, lots of lambs around.
I have tweaked it slightly to give more definition as it was a pretty dull day today.
We retuned to Wharfedale this way after a stroll around West Witton after breakfast and a wander in Leyburn, finding a particularly nice Hospice shop with lovely ladies.
To be honest we are pretty pooped after last night. We had a wonderful meal and lots of fizz. I can highly recommend this place which seems to go the extra mile for people celebrating. The couple on the next table last night had just got engaged.
They had a ballon on their table and the story this morning was that they had been about to put the balloon in their room ( as ours was) when the guy said he hadn't asked her yet! So the balloon was presented at the table after the proposal was done and presumable accepted. They have a long way to go to 41 years! ( Wensleydale Heifer, West Witton - see extra)
I will shortly add a Flickr album link. Here
