Maundy Thursday.

This is another special day in the Christian calendar , also has been recognised since 1300 century when the sovereign distributed undated hammered coins to the poor . Clothing and food was also given at this time ( however only coins now ) and even their feet were washed, Charles 11 was the last sovereign to do this part of the ceremony in 1662. A leather pouch was given to each person chosen with 4 legal tender silver coins, value 1,2,3 and 4 pence. These coins were never circulated because of their silver value? One could say why not if it was given to the poor???
Now it is customary for the sovereign to distribute 2 pouches to pensioners in recognition of services to the community and their church, the ceremony takes place in a cathedral or abbey. The coinage value was changed from old to new pence when when decimalisation took place in 1971 . It is an honour to be chosen for this .
We have the sun shining at the moment but rain predicted for this afternoon!! It would be nice to have it dry for the Easter holidays, and next week as " A " and I are going away for a couple of days, to include a blip met.
I've seen the GP this am , boring, more tests?? I'm still feeling rubbish, every day I hope to feel better. Giving up is definitely NOT on the agenda , so tomorrow is another day. Happy Easter everyone. New life and hopes for a calmer , saver world.

Happy .... for the temperature to be rising , even if it's only for today !!!!
