En Route

There has been a dearth of sunshine in Moray this week, but no rain until this morning when there was a cold half hearted drizzle which had us donning cagoules, hats and scarves to plough through the weather to the bus stop taking us Cullen where we intended to enliven the day with some Rockpool toast before we had a walk through the woods of Cullen House.

The snowdrops there were finished but it must have been quite a show when they were out. A few primroses nestled in hollows filled with last year's beech leaves and there were big fat buds on the parent trees. The rookery in the tall trees near the town entrance was busy and noisy with birds calling and flying back and forth, but further along the drive it was still and quiet.

The rain stopped and the sun came out to transport us to an altogether different world of colour and cheer, and with another bus to Portsoy, there was a much warmer walk round the harbour and the extravagance of an ice cream sitting at Soy Loch watching the duck drakes try their luck with the ladies that involved some dirty play.

This shed with the broken fence and the daffodils newly blooming is on our walk to the bus stop at Sandend.
