William Simmons, England

'Willy' is a retired professional musician. He now spends his time making and repairing instruments, specialising in flutes. I was lucky enough to be invited to his workshop to see some of the pieces he has been working on. 

I was particularly interested in his wooden whistles (this is one in the photo above). Willy mainly works with metals so naturally the bulk of his tools and machinery are metal working. Therefore Willy has constructed these whistles with a metal lathe, blade etc, with absolute accuracy.

I have learnt allot from Willy and am eager to continue my own workshop projects when i arrive back home. Willy was even kind enough to give me two blocks of blackwood timber for my first flute.
