Over Yonder

When we were trying to sell our flat last year, 'Er Indoors decided to buy a whole bunch of artwork conducive to good marketing.

You know the sort of thing - bland, abstract, inoffensive - she actually bought one piece "as seen on tv" on a house-selling programme.  I approved.

And then there was this.  I have no idea what aspect of "bland", "abstract" or "inoffensive" this picture represents.  I do know that it went prominently in the living room and was reproduced on all of the house schedules.

People (not buyers) would come to the flat just to see it.  One man stood in front of it for 10 minutes, studying.  Another said, "Oh, I WONDERED why you had a picture of a bearded woman in your living room."  It is a good thing he did not put in an offer as my wife would have undoubtedly refused it, before kicking his arse.  Another man said, "I'm going to put in an offer on the flat, so long as this picture is included."  But he didn't.

(That man listed his profession on LinkedIn as "Psychic and Cat-Whisperer" by the way.  We got a varied crowd.)

In the end, the flat sold of course.  I'm not sure if this piece of artwork helped or not but she was not part of the deal.  She came with us to the new flat and is staring at me right now.
