Hooded Merganser

Far from a great photo but I was so happy to see a Bufflehead  Hooded Merganser in the pond.  When I first arrived, I startled a few more (plus two American Black ducks), which you can see in the extras.  Note how they run across the water before flight.

Today is my son's 20th birthday.  I shall need strength to get through the night as he is having a party ~ perhaps a sleeping pill will be a good plan. I am hoping to photograph him at some point...
