Waipara

I didn't leave Christchurch until around lunchtime as I was making use of the wifi again. I headed for Waipara, another wine region which is less famous than Central Otago, Marlborough and Hawke's Bay but it had been recommended to me. By the time I arrived, I only had enough time for three wineries. Their pinot noirs are different to Central Otago but fantastic still. The last winery also had a delicious port which is apparently very popular.

I drove to a nearby cheap campsite and set up in the lovely evening sunshine while a storm threatened in the distance but never arrived.
