Doug's 50th

Another of my schoolmates hitting his half century. He'd been out for a family meal and thought he was popping into the local social club for a quiet beer or two. What he didn't know was that close friends had organised a gathering of more family and friends and we were all waiting for him when he arrived. He was a tad surprised and overwhelmed.

His Status Quo cake was amazing, flashing lights and two firework like sparklers that were blazing as it was brought in.

The extra shows the lucky birthday boy with his new banjo, a close up of the cake and ... well, I don't know how to explain the third shot! Once he'd changed back to normal and a Status Quo number was played, we did 'The Spread ' together and I asked him about the swimming costume. He said he hadn't worn one since he was dared to do it at 8yrs of age. He got 45p for doing it then. We still need to organise a whip round for last nights performance!
