Easter Cheer?

The first of the rhododendrons is just coming into flower in the front garden. I'm led to believe that it is called 'Christmas Cheer', and it has been known to bloom in December, and January according to some pattern which I don't understand.

It's very welcome, on days as chilly and damp as this has been.
