Hordes and hordes and HORDES of schoolkids already on Cullercoats beach by 10am this morning (with more arriving by the coach load in the 5 minutes I hung over the railings, it's the end-of-term beach party season).....the lifeguards will be having a busy day today.

Y'know the really nice thing was the noise, the beach sounded like it used to when my kids were smalls.....the only thing missing from the nostalgic soundscape was half a dozen frenzied, yappy dogs, the crackle of the beach tannoy system and the melodious chime of a distant ice cream van......
