Just a guess.

I was "ratching" through some old shots from the "Hists of Mistory" and found this.
In the early days "way back when" we first took over the shop we used to decorate the window for the Christmas "Do". We could never understand why we didn't ever get so much as a "Highly Commended".
Then we discovered, more or less by accident, that the "Committee" of judges always went around later when the shops were shut so that they could stand outside without hindering passage along footpaths.
Since we always put up wooden shutters, it being a Jeweller's shop, we were never seen in order to be judged.
This was our very first attempt.
