Georges Hayes
I moaned a couple of weeks ago that the gate to the car park at Georges Hayes was closed and locked and that there was nowhere safe to leave the car, not even a farm gateway. I tried again as I wanted to take my annual photo of the daffodils - in luck.
Blues skies, with clouds that took the light from time to time, it was a lovely morning for photos. The Staffordshire daffodils, growing gloriously in this deserted nature reserve were in full flourish - and there were a few lone bluebells, signs of things to come.
This year the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust have done quite a bit of woodland management, thinning out of the trees to encourage more birds and stronger plant growth. Necessary and important, but it has made the paths lethally slippery and there are huge bulldozer tracks in places. Walking along was far more dangerous than the Madeiran levadas on a scary day (but at least you have a phone signal if things go badly wrong.)
I loved my sky shots (extra) but today does have to be a homage to those incredibly beautiful daffodils.
