Paper Hall

We were going to walk this morning and look for an elusive well in the St Ives Estate but the heavy rain soon turned to snow!! It didn't settle but was pretty grim for,a while so we,set off to Owlcoats (M&S) to look for a white shirt for Chris. I should have known it would not be successful as he doesn't like the style of most of them and of course the only white ones with collars he liked were in packs of three!
He needs the shirt for our next visit to our daughter's as she has asked him to do 'front of house' one evening in the show (The Producers) she is in. He is a Patron and he has a DJ but needs a new shirt.

Never mind we had a coffee and a look around and bought a few bits in the food hall.

On the way back we always pass this amazing building. It is the Paper Hall a Grade 11 listed and is Bradford's oldest domestic building in the city centre. It has a blue plaque which says it was built in the mid 17th century. The origin of the name Paper Hall is obscure but its owner in the 19th century is attributed with bringing the industrial revolution to Bradford and it is said to have housed some of Richard Arkwright's very first spinning machines. I have never photographed it before and am surprised it has come out so well as it was taken from the car as we turned right. It is situated in the middle of a junction of the 4 lane inner ring road! Such a shame.
