Cuba Day 4
Men at Work...
...and I think 'Builders Bum' is illegal in Cuba!
Today we toured Havana with a personal guide and taxi driver, revisiting many places from Day 2 but with explanations from a local. Cuba has a fascinating history that is constantly evolving, even on a daily basis, and it was really something to hear it from the perspective a local.
Cuban people are musical, vivacious, educated, friendly, hard working, and very proud of their culture and country. When they ask you if it's your first time in the country, you can see on their faces and in their smiles that they're waiting for you to say you love it too, and especially that you love the Cuban people.
Havana *is* touristy, and I wish we'd had longer to explore a bit further afield, but today we saw the classics, Revolution Plaza, Hemingways Home, La Bodeguita del Medio (one of the bars Hemingway went to - closed when we went there!), and it was great fun.
This photo was in the Plaza de Armas where workers were replacing the broken bricks, made of wood for acoustic reasons. The rest of the plaza had stalls selling literature, albums and t-shirts.
In the evening we went to a jazz club that we wouldn't have found if we hadn't had help from our guide and taxi driver. A good evening for our last in Havana!
