Easter church hunt continues.....

At the risk of being really boring I went out this afternoon to photograph some more of our lovely local churches....I cannot believe how many there are within about a 20 mile radius of where I live.
This little gem is Buncton chapel which sits alone along a wooded path which first meanders down to a stream bordered by wild garlic and bluebells, then climbs up muddy steps to the churchyard.
It always feels so special photographing these churches high on the downs surrounded by farmland. - although it does make burials in the graveyard difficult with no road for the hearse to use!!
All Saints church at Buncton is an Anglican church in the hamlet of Buncton in the district of Horsham.
It has hardly changed since it was built in the 11 or 12 C as a chapel of ease to a nearby parish church and is Grade 1 listed for it's architectural and historical importance.Inside it used to have a bizarre 12C carving of a person of indeterminate sex exposing their genitalia - but in 2004 it was destroyed by an unknown vandal with a chisel!
It's amazing what you find out isn't it?
