Found!

Two surprises under all the oxalis! Pacific Coast iris is blooming now; gentle, somewhat fragile flowers loll in the shade of the magnolia. We've almost finished weeding out front, and are ready to put down new mulch for the season. Mr S made a run to the landscape supply place and came back with a truck full of a fragrant mix of chicken manure and rice hulls.

The extra photo is dinner--the first time we've made calzone! stuffed with our old friend escarole, mixed with cheese, walnuts and olives and a good amount of garlic. Tomato sauce for dipping. Yum.
