Flea

There are many reasons why it is beneficial to groom your dog. One is to remove dirt, dust, debris, and most importantly of all, parasites.

The flea is a wingless insect with a laterally flat body designed to move easily through animal hair, legs designed for jumping and mouthparts designed to suck blood.

There are several species of flea, but the most common is the cat flea, which loves to live on cats, dogs, rabbits and a variety of small mammals. They will bite humans but find us unsuitable as long term hosts.

Health risks to your pets include allergic dermatitis, tapeworm infestation ( adult fleas carry the microscopic eggs ) and anaemia.

Today I groomed a very lovely spaniel called Daisy. Unfortunately poor Daisy was a walking flea commune! She left looking much better than when she came in, minus a ton of freeloaders. I can't stop scratching tho ...
