Homespun Charms

Minster Chippy!

Up and away early this morning to go to York. Arrived by 9.30am to find the streets relatively quiet. The main objective of the exercise was to visit the Treasurer's house but as it didn't open till 11am there was time for a bit of shop browsing, bought some music (Bank's is irresistible as is Wallis! Walked away from temptation elsewhere).
Found a lovely little 'tea' shop full of cup cakes and old fashioned china. It only opened on Saturday and the nice girl in charge was very excited about the venture.
The 'house' is close by the minster where a stone mason's yard had been set up. It was fascinating watching the skilled craftsmen chipping away at huge pieces of limestone and fashioning very intricate blocks of stone that would have to been fitted to other pieces. Remarkable how accurate they need to be and are.
The Treasurer's house is well worth a visit and justifies another viewing. Also wanted to visit the art gallery where there is an exhibition of Art & Music but there wasn't time. Only time for lunch and then ...... a mad decision to give in to temptation and make another purchase. Quick dash back into Stonegate and then began the journey back.
