A trilogy of trilogies
I always seemed to miss the Forsythe Saga. The original screening on the BBC in the 1970s went on for weeks, was so captivating that the timing of Sunday evening church services had to be changed (this was pre recording days) and everyone talked about it. I missed so many episodes because of shift work in the NHS, that the episodes I did see meant little. The recent ITV version with Damian Lewis as a chilling Soames and Gina McKee as Irene began to clear the fog. However, it was the 2016 Radio 4 version, now with the possibility of playback that really hooked me. So out came volume 1, which had never been properly read, but this time savoured and taken slowly, so volumes 2 and 3 had to join.
