I travelled back to Dubai today after a two week holiday in the UK, and am very sad to be leaving the family behind for 4 weeks.

I was 6kg overweight due to a 7kg vacuum cleaner (long story) I was taking back. Since the excess baggage was going to be £150, I told the nice check in lady that she could have it. I don't know if she'll get to keep it or not, but she did move me to seat 1A at the front of the plane. Amazing how much quicker the flight goes by after a few glasses of Chateau Haut Brion, a nice lamb fillet, and a little post-prandial snooze...
