Alnus firma

I was up at 4.30 working on a creative problem. As the light came up frost spread across the pitches in front of the window. Later I popped down to the botanics in the full sun and took a few photos of the amazing variety of Alders. This a green Japanese alder. The sun soon disappeared and a cold north westerly chilled things down. Later still we drove out to South Queensferry and took a walk along the shore. Curlews were poking about and nuthatches called from the woods.

Disc of the day is this great Al Green song. The extra is of the early frost. Get down to the botanics if you can - the rhododendrons are stunning and can only get better.
