Cardiff Castle
A lovely day in Cardiff. We both liked the city, it has a great ambience and is vibrant during the day. We spent over four hours at the castle, visiting every bit of it. Alex took us on a great tour of the house, and at the end we met Maureen, another guide who after engaging in conversation with us, took us to see the chapel and other rooms not open to the public. She was absolutely delightful.
We travelled on to Swansea In late afternoon. We've not seen much of it, but truly not liking what we have seen much. The B & B is laughable, with purple interior, mis matched blue towels ( which I had to ask for), and although true to its promise of a sea view with the beach only 25 metres away, the website failed to mention the dual carriageway between the beach and the guest house, which is not going to make for a peaceful night's sleep! If it was presented on Four in a Bed I doubt anyone would give it more than a fiver! Let's see how they do for breakfast tomorrow!
Dinner however was fabulous, in a small French restaurant with only one other couple dining. I started with a ravioli of goats cheese, followed by a Superb roasted salmon with a walnut and herb crust and finally a pistachio Crete brûlée. All fabulous.
Going to visit Mumbles tomorrow and then on to Cardigan Bay. Aberporth on Friday.
