Blast From The Past

I played golf today at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea in Northumberland. The blast from the past is that the last time I played here was as a teenager over 40 years ago. Today I was playing for the seniors team from Allendale. Where have the years gone.

This is not the best view from the course but it dominates the skyline when playing many of the early holes. I'm sure over the years many of the members would have been happy to see it and be reminded that they had a job to go to. Unfortunately the Alcan smelter shut down a while ago with the loss of over 300 jobs. Now it is just plain ugly, a real blot on the landscape.

What happened in the golf I hear you ask ? The team lost but my partner Ken and I scored our only win. Oh and I didnt hit a stray horse with my ball today like I did 40 years ago.
