Docklands View
We arrived in London and were able to check into our hotel early, so after we'd unpacked, we went to the Museum of London Docklands, about 8 stops on the DLR from where we were staying in Greenwich.
It was a fascinating little museum, not least because my late in-laws grew up in London's Docklands, and father-in-law used to pay out the wages to dock workers, so we were able to get a good idea of what it looked liked in his day. There were lots of photos showing dock workers in collars and ties man-handling sacks and barrels!
One interesting fact - the large doorway with a wooden drop-down lip on each floor of a warehouse is called a loophole. 'Closing the loophole' used to have an entirely different meaning!
