Rita

Quote:  It is with great sadness that we at the Salt Spring Inn announce that Rita, the Inn Cat and Vice President of Relaxation, finished the last of her nine lives and passed away on March 29th, 2016 from cancer. Rita won a major cat lottery when she allowed Jeremy Milsom to rescue her from the mean streets of Ganges village on Oct 20, 2008. Rita quickly become a favourite of patrons and staff at the Inn, and a fixture on the office desk where she liked to sit on whatever book was most needed by the humans working at the Inn. Rather tiny and all black, Rita charmed all cat-lovers and most everyone (except for 2) she met and, with much dignity and tolerance, accepted scores of scratches and pats every day from her legion of fans. She is irreplaceable and will be sorely missed. Donations to the Salt Spring Island Branch of the BC SPCA will be collected at the Inn's office in Rita's memory.
