The Romance of Train Travel
After yesterday's suitably superficial day of retail therapy (sigh!) today was a day of close family and old friends. We all met up at St Pancras station - having travelled from all over and went for a lovely lunch at the Gilbert Scott which has THE best service in the world! Despite all of my recent travels it has been sometime since I have been to St Pancras Station and what a difference!
The 'Meeting Place,' a 9m tall bronze sculpture installed under the famous St Pancras clock, is by the artist Paul Day. It's been met with mixed reviews... possibly because the area used to have such a seedy reputation... its locally known as 'The Tart 'n' Punter!" I, however, like the sentiment and the fact that is so reminiscent of 'Brief Encounter.'Romantic?Me? never... ;)
A tramp, a gentleman, a poet, a dreamer, a lonely fellow, always hopeful of romance and adventure.
