Urban Decay

While exploring the ruins of this early 1900s church, all I could think was "I am the vine."

This Roman Catholic Church was built by Slovakian immigrants in 1907, but less than 50 years later, structural issues and Vatican II led to the abandonment of the building. Not long after this decision, the local steel mill also abandoned the community, leaving those who remained with the ruins of a once-vibrant economy.  Now the church is attended daily by pigeons and groundhogs, as the vines and trees slowly reclaim the bricks and mortar.
