Bun Surgery
I had a meeting in Edinburgh today with Richard, a surgeon that I had met at a conference down in Oxford last year, to chat about doing some collaborative working. I won't be slicing up bodies though….it was to do with education and research. We met in Brew Lab, ideal for two coffee aficionados.
Afterwards, I walked over to Bruntsfield as I needed a bike tyre. On a lovely evening last week in Stirlinshire my sidewall split, esulting in several exploding inner-tubes and a very long walk. Then, I found myself in Leo and Ted's a new café near Tollcross and worked from there for a while. I went home via Soderberg to buy a few cardamom buns. The first time I tried these Swedish delights, I didn't like them but now I think they're probably one of my favourite treats on earth. Rosemary is rather partial to them too.
Getting home, I spent a few hours on the sofa reading a book on philosophy and research methods. That was very hard going but interesting too. It was then on to YouTube to watch some lectures. I love how you can simply Google a subject and then watch a video on it.
In the evening, I got the pinnie on and got dinner prepared for Rosemary getting home. I was very pleased with a simple but delicious celery and tomato soup, accompanied by spicy tattie wedges. Even better was hearing Rosemary make satisfied noises when eating it all. Ok, it wasn't Michelin Star standard but simple is sometimes best. Even better were our cardamom buns!
