Imagine my surprise...

You guys know how much I love nets and rope and buoys and sea gear in general right? Imagine my joy when we'd turned off a side road onto a track and onto a gravelly lay by near a trig point hiiiiiigh on a hill (Ward Hill) to get an overview of the island (Orkney mainland....) only to find heaps and heaps and heaps of disgarded nets and the like - some of em still bulging with mussels...
Can only presume they became of no use when laws about the size of the holes in the nets was changed? And costs being prohibitive to scrap anything on the island - they were dumped.
