Goose
I took part in a 40 miles bike ride today that went through the village of Sandon. The weather was perfect and the ride went through some lovely scenery. I noticed these flowers and letters in a phone box by the pond in Sandon and remembered that the village was still grieving for their resident goose.
The story started because it was suspected that the goose had been shot in the head with an air gun from a passing car. This dreadful news reached the national press and was featured in Radio 2 on the Jeremy Vine Show where two guys offered a £275,000 reward for the conviction of the vile scumbags who had carried out this despicable act of cruelty.
Consequently, the bird's body was exhumed from it's shallow grave by the pond and given a post mortem examination. There was no evidence of the goose having been shot.
People are still upset as witnessed by the phone box where the goose slept.
I believe that this could only happen in the UK.
