Senses

I didn't set out to do a triathlon but by the time I was on the grassy bends, it was pretty much in the bag.

Mowing the lawn was the easy stage.

Rich headed out this morning for a big hills local ride, I set out on a lesser hills ride but backwards.  I took in our three local hills and then persuaded myself to head over to the reservoirs as well.  The weather just got better and better.  Heading up Langbar, there was some kind of fell run going on, crossing on a diagonal right at the steep part.  I was somewhat bothered that they may well be running faster than me on a bike - that gave me a little boost to put my foot down (only just enough!) and I did manage a quick chat too.

I was bushed by the time I got back but after some sustenance, went for a walk on the moors with Little Dog.

My legs were jaded but a walk definitely did them good.  Despite the moors being quite busy, we sat for a while in a few secluded places.

There was plenty around... a little owl, a red kite, buzzards, a sparrow hawk, rabbits, grouse, meadow pipits - and the chiff chaffs are back.  It was lovely to see families in the countryside too and this couple - I think he was blind but still enjoying being surrounded by the moors.

We sat by a stream for some time just listening to the endless sounds of the babbling water.  I think it was for this reason that it was hard to move on.  Perpetual and calming - it's the first time I've felt fully connected to the moors since I've been back. And it was lovely.
