I think that one of the most attractive tree flowers are those of the European Larch. Unlike other coniferous trees which lose their leaves in winter, the larch has soft little needle like leaves which are now emerging in tufts together with attractive pink flowers. They are sometimes called "larch roses"and are the female flowers with clusters of pink scales growing at the top of shoots which then ripen to form small cones after being pollinated by the wind.
