With a Song in his Heart...

….and a chill in his bones.  I heard this beautiful cardinal singing his little heart out late this afternoon as he sat in the sunshine on a day that has brought biting cold temperatures and a wind chill in the 30’s. The Cardinal’s sound is lovely and it occurred to me that since this is a North American bird, some of you may not have heard his beautiful song, so here it is.

Last night brought howling high winds and this morning the yard was full of downed tree branches and the hammock had been flipped over.  Fortunately, we did not lose power as our lines are underground, but many in the area were not so lucky.  There are freeze warnings for the next two night, so winter hasn’t quite given up its grip on us.
