Another Languedoc year...

Memories

I was up at the crack of dawn to take the ginger bulldozer, our ancient labrador, Kit, to the vet again. She was not at all happy at being held on her back while the vet scanned her abdomen. For the moment I am awaiting lab(rador) results.

On the way back I thought she might like to associate this trip with something pleasurable so I took her to our old vineyard. She loved every minute and knew her way round like an old hand, even though we sold the vines about three or four years ago. All her lumps and bumps and creaky bones and dodgy heart were forgotten as she trotted along, sniffing wild thyme and chewing her favourite wild asparagus. Here you see her in a huge patch of wild thyme on the top of the hill where our carignan vines used to be. They were sickly so the new owners were right to have dug them up. In fact half of the vineyard has been dug up and replanted with olives and fruit trees, along with the replanting of some syrah. It was good to be in such a wonderful place again. For both of us.
